Faithful Service
// Rachel DeTellis
Berthony Jean has been a constant figure in our Haiti office for 25 years now!
He started working for the mission in December 1999 as an office translator. He was later assigned the role of data entry—entering new student registrations and other information into the database. He was exposed to keyboarding and other office skills through our Royal Caribbean Institute and then at university in Port-au-Prince. After the government exam results come in during the summer, when others are taking vacation, he stays busy updating the system and making sure students are in the right class for the upcoming school year.

Berthony is very thankful for his roles as well as the growth and opportunities they have afforded him. When the mission started in 1983 he was 14 years old and was placed in the Neply pre-K class. He had little opportunity before then to attend school. Not only did he begin school, but he also started attending church. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized in 1991. We thank God for his life of faithful service to the mission all these years. ~Rachel DeTellis
