Steps of Obedience

One Sunday morning, church members from Playa Laguna and Los Castillos gathered shortly after dawn to witness and celebrate the baptism of eight individuals.

Both new believers and seasoned Christians took this significant step of faith, publicly declaring their obedience to Christ. The joyful atmosphere was filled with worship and celebration. After the baptisms, they joined together for a meaningful church service—praising God for His work in their lives and in the community.

For our churches in the Dominican Republic, baptism is a deeply intentional and significant step. Each person must demonstrate genuine repentance and a desire to follow Christ. To prepare for this important moment, they attend classes with the pastor to deepen their understanding of the meaning of baptism and their commitment to living as disciples of Jesus. Baptisms here often take place in a river, reflecting Jesus’ example. Surrounded by God’s creation, the church community gathers to sing, worship, and rejoice together while encouraging those who are taking this powerful step of obedience.
