Wake-Up Call
// Rachel DeTellis
This past summer, one of our mission teams used the method known as “kowot” (a Creole word) to issue a wake-up call.
This entails our Haitian missionaries walking through villages early in the morning while people are rising. They sang, prayed over, and proclaimed God’s love and the way to salvation to all within earshot. The 170 team members from seven of our Haitian churches also used other means to minister. They did home evangelism, street preaching, prayer, and evening services in five different locations in Haiti. Our Vieux-Court church also hosted training for 20 local leaders, baptized an individual, and performed a wedding. The Holy Spirit ministered through the Word of God and many lives were changed.
Of those ministered to, 80 people gave their lives to Christ and are now forever changed. Others felt convicted of their sins and repented. We are thankful for these 170 missionaries who obeyed God’s command to go and share the Good News of the Gospel in spite of the dangers and hardships that are ever-present in Haiti. Their message is: it’s time to wake up and turn to God! ~Rachel DeTellis
