Last year, we initiated what will now become a tradition of volunteer service days—dedicating two days for our staff to assist families in the communities we serve.

One of these service days had been planned for many months to take place in May with specific projects in mind. However, in the weeks prior to this day of service, we experienced torrential rain and flooding in many parts of Sosua. The rains came so fast that people had no time to move their belongings to safety and many lost all of their possessions.

Our employees volunteered to help pack the food and clothing bags before distributing them to three different locations.

Adapting to these urgent needs, we shifted our focus to provide immediate relief. Forty of our team members worked together to prepare 230 bags filled with food and clothing. We distributed these bags to those most affected in Playa Laguna, Sosua Abajo, and Redemption Village. This experience was eye-opening for many of our team who witnessed firsthand the profound needs of our students and their families. Each bag was distributed with love, and we are thankful to the Lord for the increased enthusiasm among our staff to support those in need. To God be the glory! ~Heather Williams Katz
