Forty-two Years in Haiti
// Charlie DeTellis
We are celebrating 42 years in Haiti, and give God all the glory for the work that has been done here in His mighty name.
We must remain faithful and rely upon God. My parents knew that education and faith in God would bring about change to Haiti. During these years, tens of thousands of children have attended our schools. They come from coastal fishing villages, the sugarcane plains of Leogane, and from the mountain regions near Tom Gateau. Even when my parents first began their work in Haiti, they felt God’s strong presence with them. Fast forward 42 years, and we have a new generation of believers who are and will be the future leaders of Haiti.
We praise the Lord as we continue to see the fruit of our labor through frequent baptism services and our high school and Bible college graduates. 1 Peter 4:10-11 tells us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others...If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.” Let’s believe God for the work He wants to do through us.
It is my prayer that Haiti will experience a greater measure of peace and prosperity in the year ahead. ~Charlie DeTellis
