Not all kids have access to an education. Globally, 57 million kids are not in school.

A UNICEF report states that in Haiti, more than half a million children are not receiving an education. When I learn these statistics, I think about those who step into the classrooms at New Missions. They are welcomed, loved...and we believe God will change their lives. Our purpose is bigger than education; we pray for a spiritual transformation.

As sixth grade graduates, these students from Masson, Haiti, represent a new generation of Christian leaders.

Tarah Chery stepped on the stage at our Masson school in Haiti as a thankful 13-year-old to receive her sixth grade graduation certificate. Her sponsor, Naomi, from Hicksville, Ohio, has prayed for her, and supported her dream of an education since March 2017. Her sponsor also sent letters and shoebox gifts over the years. This milestone of accomplishment begins a new chapter of hope and opportunity while erasing a past of abject poverty and despair.

Standing next to her pastor, Richard Gay, from Masson, Tarah Chery received her sixth grade certificate.

Family and friends gathered to honor these graduates from Masson, Haiti, who have reached this milestone.

Before this year ends, if you have never sponsored a child, I want to invite you to do something extra special. We have 279 students who are teenagers without a sponsor. If you want to sponsor one of these “hard to sponsor” students, please visit newmissions.org/sponsorship and select a teen. Together, we can make a difference in these teenagers’ lives. ~Tim DeTellis
