Early one morning, my heart felt compelled to call a pastor friend. No answer.

I left a voicemail and encouraged him. Then, minutes later, a text shows up from the pastor: “I’m stepping into an important meeting and I welcome your prayers.”

The New Missions church in Neply, Haiti, overflowing with families celebrating their 40th service—founded on January 9, 1983.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 reminds us, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Pastor Yaguel, preaching strong in the wake of a personal tragedy and proclaiming, “There is still hope in God.”

I received news that Pastor Yaguel, who serves at our church in Neply, Haiti, faced a tragedy when he lost two of his children in a motorcycle accident. The news was devastating. I watched on Facebook the live stream of the memorial service as Pastor Yaguel said, “Pastors from all our churches from TiRiviere to Lassale called upon their people to pray for my family.”

Please remember pastors serving everywhere in your prayers. May we pray without ceasing.

The work of the local church is a spiritual work. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12) Today, I ask you to pray for our pastors and pray for your pastor. Thank you. ~Tim DeTellis
