A Teacher's Lasting Impact
// Heather Williams Katz
This school year, I have had the privilege to teach an advanced English class in our high school. Through this experience, I have been reminded of just how important and difficult being a teacher can be!
Becoming a teacher is truly a special calling. Many of our students come from unstable homes and their teachers offer them a safe place where they feel loved and cherished.
Proverbs 22:6 tells us, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Our teachers love the Lord and their students—sharing God’s love and the Gospel with them comes naturally. Irma Mendoza teaches her three-year-old students about God’s love through the wonders of creation. When it is raining, she teaches her students that God sends the rain because He loves us.
As students grow older and become more independent, our teachers come alongside them to support them in the highs and lows of their lives. When students face loss and hardship, or question the hard truths of life, our teachers lovingly support and guide them. When our students succeed, our teachers rejoice and celebrate with them. Please pray for our teachers as they teach and guide our students to become Christian leaders for the next generation. ~Heather Williams Katz
