Stepping up
// Rachel DeTellis
Affording elementary and high school, let alone any post-secondary education, is difficult for most Haitians.
For the six students (two just graduated) being sponsored to attend nursing/lab school this year, it’s like a dream come true. Each of them have come up through our schools and graduated from our high school. We thank their sponsors for enabling them to take this next step.
Fredberline Celestin’s (a third-year nursing student) father was a Voodoo priest and her family still practices Voodoo. But because she went to our TiRiviere school, she began attending church and accepted Jesus as her Savior. In her studies she enjoys pediatrics and clinicals in government facilities with many interesting cases.
Hermite Cange (also a third-year nursing student) is from our LaSalle school/church. She started her nurses training but ran out of funds and saw no path to ever finishing. We found a sponsor for her and every day she thanks God for this blessing. She has a heart for the elderly and would like to serve the geriatric community.
Please pray for these students as they step up into new areas of influence and service. ~Rachel DeTellis
