Four years ago, we started a Christian leadership group in our high school in an effort to raise up more Christian student leaders at our DR high school, Colegio Nueva Vida.

We strive to teach the youth to be servant leaders like Christ. The program has been successful and we have seen many students grow in their faith. As a part of this program, we take the students on a mission trip each summer. In doing this, our students have an opportunity to serve others and to learn to work together as a team.

This summer, we took fourteen students to Jarabacoa, a town located in the mountains. They worked in a Haitian church in an area close to the town. We hosted VBS every morning and had different activities in the afternoon with the children. The kids had a great time and each day they were more engaged in the classes and activities. Our teen students enjoyed connecting with the children and learned valuable lessons about leadership and teamwork. We praise the Lord for a successful trip and look forward to seeing how God will use our leadership group during this upcoming school year. ~Heather Williams Katz
