A few days ago, I interviewed one of our high school students, Jean Kendy Lambert. Before me was a young man—intelligent, respectful, and with the light of Jesus in his eyes!

I felt blessed to be talking with him, and realized that each student like him is a fulfillment of our vision for the high school.

New Missions started with only elementary schools, but as students grew up, the need for our own high school became apparent. In 1988, land with road frontage was purchased and the high school was constructed. Other structures have been built, and we now have over 1,000 students at the high school.

Jean Kendy has been in our schools since he was five. He is an orphan who was raised by his grandmother, as his mom died when he was five. His father, who was a Voodoo priest, died at a later time. His grandmother took him to church, and at age 18, he accepted Christ and was baptized. He says he has been first in his class since second grade. As a serious student, he is often called upon to help explain or teach things to his peers. In his free time, he likes studying English. After graduating, he’d like to study agronomy using the English language. ~Rachel DeTellis
