Churches Post COVID-19
// Rachel DeTellis
In October, our pastors chose a new verse for the 2020-2021 school year: Psalm 67:2.
The Creole version is their prayer, “Please have pity on us and send Your blessings. Help us know You are with us.” God has not only protected their congregations during this pandemic, but also their country.
Our churches and schools have been fully open and functioning since the end of the government ordered shutdown. In February, when I attended the Bord-Mer church, it was standing room only. Pastor Yaguel says the Haitians see how many in other countries have died from COVID-19, but for the most part God has spared Haiti. Seeing this has encouraged faithfulness and a greater reverence of God. I am hearing from other churches that they have had salvations, requests for baptism, and couples wanting to get married. Pastor Guillaume from our Leogane church has new members who decided to come to church after witnessing his regular home visitation while churches were closed. We are thankful for our pastors and for God’s hand of mercy and blessing. God is with us and He’s changing lives. ~Rachel DeTellis
