Changed Lives
// Rachel DeTellis
Back in the early 90s, I remember attending church at what we now call the Leogane-Guillaume campus.
The building was a rickety shelter with a dirt floor, and there were just a few who attended. The property, which had once housed a small rum factory, was purchased by New Missions in 1989. But it wasn’t until 1997 that a nice church structure was built. Today, there is a mature congregation of over 300 people who attend. The church has grown and become strong because of the faithful leadership of Pastor Jean Guillaume. He was made pastor and school director in 2000 after teaching in New Missions schools for eight years.
Pastor Guillaume received Christ as a teenager at a crusade when a nine-year-old child approached him and “preached” to him. Now he finds much encouragement in helping the students at his school come to know and follow the Lord. Pastor Guillaume says his greatest blessing is knowing his four children, all New Missions graduates, are totally committed to God and that they, along with his wife, are serving alongside him. His steadfast commitment to God’s work has changed many lives. ~Rachel DeTellis
