A Graduation Celebration
// Heather Williams Katz
No doubt everyone reading this article has had to cancel or change plans this year due to the pandemic.
Our students here in the DR are no exception; classes moved online in March and will continue online at least until January. All of our school events had to be cancelled, including our graduations. The students in our senior class were a very diverse group, but they had one similar desire: they wanted to have a graduation ceremony! Every month, the students and their parents called the school to talk to the director about their desire for a proper graduation.
Thankfully, coronavirus cases in the DR have been declining and a few weeks ago, we were able to have a small graduation for our senior class! This graduating class was our largest yet with 21 students. Out of those students, 19 of them came to New Missions in preschool and continued with us all the way through twelfth grade! Please pray that the students who graduated will seek God̓s will for their lives as they plan their next steps. We look forward to seeing how God will use these students in the future to further His kingdom. ~Heather Williams Katz
