A Shelter From The Storm
// Heather Williams Katz
For many years, the big tent in Playa Chiquita has been a landmark in Sosua.
We have had weekly church services there along with special concerts and events. However, with the windy tropical climate in the Dominican Republic, these tents do not last very long. The tent suffered a lot of damage and finally came down for good during a recent tropical storm. We are excited to be able to replace the tent with a permanent metal structure that will last much longer. This new structure will be open and safe to use during the pandemic.
Pastor Waldis Cordero started working with the mission almost 20 years ago, and has been the pastor of the church in Playa Chiquita for 10 years. He has witnessed God working in remarkable ways during the pandemic, and rejoices in the love and empathy the people of his church have shown to others. The church continues to meet in outdoor classrooms while the new structure is under construction. Please pray God will continue to use the people in this church to minister in their communities, and that the new structure will be used to bring glory to God. ~Heather Williams Katz
