In February, two teams joined together to serve in our schools. Foundation Academy from Winter Garden, Florida, came prepared for everything soccer.

At each school they visited, Gio Moraes shared an object lesson using two soccer balls. The students listened intently as he shared how we can fulfill our purpose when we are filled with God’s love. They also had a great afternoon interacting with the youth at our Signeau Middle School. The boys played soccer while the girls did face painting, polished nails, and jumped rope.

The mission team from New Port Assembly provided food for children to take home to their families.

Newport Assembly, from Newport, Pennsylvania, raised money in order to distribute food. Each child at three of our schools went home with a load of dry rice and beans. I asked one of our Haitian staff members about how valuable this is to the students’ families. She stated that the food is a tremendous blessing, and at times, older students will ask for a large portion of food during their school lunch so they can take some home to feed hungry family members.

Soccer and food were used to shoot for the same goal—communicating the love of Christ. ~Rachel DeTellis
