NM Graduate Now Part of Shoebox Process
// Rachel DeTellis
It is Christmas shoebox season and many of you have packed a gift for your sponsored child.
Besides the generous gifts that you have prepared, some of you volunteered at your church or the Orlando office to process these gifts. Once they reach the mission in Haiti the gifts designated for specific children are sent directly to the appropriate school. At the school, the translator will call the children one by one to receive their gift and translate the card, as well as help them write a thank you note back to their sponsor.
Gregory Doirin, a 2006 graduate, is one of our 32 translators. He works at the Leogane Guillaume campus—the school he went to as a child. He really enjoys his work with the students. He said that when a preschooler gets a gift the whole class wants to come and see. Gratefully, the last few years we have received enough gifts to distribute one to every single student and staff member. Your heart for Haiti and generosity are truly a sweet blessing to help and encourage the children. Thank you! ~Rachel DeTellis
