Haitians on Mission Trips
// Rachel DeTellis
Five of our New Missions churches have already been on a mission trip in Haiti this summer, with 175 members participating. One more church will go on a trip before school resumes.
Thus far, 26 people have accepted Jesus as Savior through these trips. All of this was independently planned, organized, funded, and executed by the Haitian churches. Pastor Panel from the Birey church had the largest group comprised of 110 people from his church! He worked hard to stimulate interest and motivate his team. They had numerous prayer services lasting as late as midnight in preparation. New Missions was able to help with some of their food provisions and items for distribution. The teams held open air services in marketplaces, special church services, and home to home visits.
Since 1986, Pastor Guy has annually led a team out to a new location to do ministry. He says that team members are so blessed to participate. They grow in their courage and ability to share their faith, meet and interact with believers from this new place, and enjoy fellowship and camaraderie as they work together. Pastor Guy said, “Jesus told us to go.” It is wonderful to see men and women of God willing to fulfill the Great Commission. ~Rachel DeTellis
