Hope for Little Kids
// Heather Williams Katz
At our preschools in the Dominican Republic, every school day starts with praying, singing Christian songs, and reading Bible stories.
The children follow a routine each day and learn to socialize with other children, share, obey, and respect their elders and others. These important lessons help prepare them to be successful in school and in their lives. Most importantly, they are being taught about God and His love for each one of them.
Every Monday, the children have a chapel service and many of the children run to their teachers, begging them to let them pray or sing a song during the service. Their enthusiasm for praying and worshiping God continues at home. The children are taught that they should pray first thing in the morning, before they eat, and before they go to bed at night. One of our preschool directors, Xiomara Peralta, says many parents tell her that their children pray at home just how they have been taught at school. How encouraging to know that these children are learning the fundamentals of education that will help them succeed in school, and are also learning strong Christian values and forming good habits. ~Heather Williams Katz
