In early September, we had a school directors’ meeting to begin the school year.

“It’s not by might. It’s not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord. This mountain shall be removed by my Spirit says the Lord.” (Zechariah 4:6-7) I asked the students to memorize it and learn the chorus with the same words. We had lime green banners with blue lettering made to hang in each school location. A couple of weeks later I was visiting the L’Acul school with a team and, to my amazement, the whole student body was already able to quote both of the verses!

Our New Missions Christian Academy theme verse for this year is found in Zechariah 4:6-7.

In these verses, Zerubbabel is encouraged to rely on God’s Spirit to accomplish what seemed impossible. God promised to remove the “mountains” before him. I chose this passage because the challenges in Haiti are mountainous. They can appear daunting. But with the empowering of the Spirit, His work will be accomplished. Will you pray for holy empowering of our pastors, directors, teachers and students this school year? ~Rachel DeTellis
