School in Los Castillos
// Jeanne DeTellis
The community in Los Castillos is waiting to see their school built.
New Missions came to this neighborhood in 1999. The children were mostly from Haitian sugarcane cutters. They had no birth certificates, and were not allowed to attend the public school. We did our best to renovate a building and begin school. For the past 17 years, we have dreamed of them having a campus of their own, with both a church and a school. God’s great love provided the land and all of the finances to build a church. The land is high—with space and beauty.
Throughout 2016, visiting teams ministered in the community, and they heard the same question from the parents and children, “Will the mission build a school?”
For the children in Los Castillos, they are dreaming of the day when they put on their uniform for New Missions Christian Academy, and enjoy the green grass, open space, loving, Christian teachers, and academic training for a better tomorrow. “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.” (Job 5:9) Together, let’s build a school in Los Castillos. ~Jeanne DeTellis
