It’s that time of year again! Christmas is right around the corner.

For the past month, our staff has been working hard to prepare for volunteers to come to our office to pack our prepacked shoeboxes. Packages have been arriving almost daily, supplies have been unpacked and shoeboxes have been assembled. This brings a great sense of excitement and anticipation. Prepacked shoeboxes are a project we look forward to each year. It’s important—because for many of these children—it’s the first and only gift they receive at Christmas.

Volunteers from Journey Christian Fellowship in Quinton, VA, come every summer to help us put together shoeboxes.

Our prepacked shoeboxes are filled with toys, schools supplies, and hygiene items. We pray it blesses and encourages the children.

This year, we have added some exciting items to our boxes. Our 3-6 year olds will receive a children’s book called “The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross” in Haitian Creole. It is a wonderful story about God’s plan of salvation. For our 7-11 year old students, we are including “101 Favorite Bible Stories.” And each of our older students will receive a French New Testament and a French to English dictionary.

We pack shoeboxes for all ages. Here, a high school student enjoys getting her shoebox with age appropriate gifts.

Each age and gender has unique items selected that will put a smile on their faces. Such items include dolls, soccer balls, stuffed animals, ball caps, and much more. If you would like to order a shoebox for your sponsored child or for an unsponsored child, visit newmissions.org/shoeboxgiving. Let’s share God’s love this Christmas! ~Christy Dillon
