Baptism Festival
// Tim DeTellis
On Friday, March 20, 2020, the day after Haiti's president declared a state of emergency for the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, we hosted a baptism festival. Twenty-one of our churches from across the Leogane Plain gathered together at our New Missions church in Concrab, Haiti. To the glory of God, 22 Haitians followed in believer’s baptism — both young and old.
The baptism festival began with music and preaching at the church, and then, they sang their way to the oceanfront. In such a time of fear, this festival showed hope in God and unity among many churches.
Originally, I was scheduled to be in Haiti for this baptism festival, however, my travels were canceled. Today, wherever you are, if something has been changed and your original plans were quickly canceled, have faith and hope that God will work all things together for His good and according to His purposes.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support on behalf of our churches and schools across Haiti and the Dominican Republic. During difficult times, the local church rises up to be the greatest force for good and we are standing steadfast.
