Preparing for Shoeboxes
// Molly Knost
It looks like Christmas in July at our office in Orlando.
Toys, school supplies, and hygiene items have been arriving daily, as we prepare for packing over 2,000 shoeboxes this summer. This year we have some exciting additions to our pre-packed shoeboxes. The Jesus Storybook Bible in Haitian Creole will be included in the boxes for the little kids. Colorful water bottles filled with toothpaste and a toothbrush will be in every box. Volunteers will be in and out of the office helping assemble shoeboxes, preparing supplies, and filling boxes with items so they are ready when ordered this fall.
We are not the only ones getting ready for shoebox season. Many churches prepare for shoebox packing parties all year long. Journey Christian Fellowship does a wonderful job collecting supplies for their shoeboxes. They work together to find great deals on items that will be awesome gifts for children in Haiti. This past year they were able to collect supplies for over 1,000 shoeboxes. Your church can start preparing for the upcoming shoebox drive, too. I would love to hear from you if you are planning on collecting shoeboxes. Please email me at Molly@newmissions.org with your questions…or to let me know that you would like to host a shoebox drive. ~Molly Knost
