God, Change Me Too
// Tim DeTellis
As part of her presentation to the youth group at Cielo Vista Church in El Paso, Texas, 16-year-old Gaby shared the following: “I thought I shouldn’t go on this mission trip because I wasn’t good enough.
Little did I know the phrase ‘you’re not good enough’ was just a lie that Satan was trying to put in my head.” She had just returned from Haiti, where one of her dreams was to meet Marriana Charles—the girl her family sponsors through New Missions.
When your own child visits a Third World country and has the opportunity to experience a different culture, you hope and pray their heart and mind are opened to a worldview that will shape their life forever—especially when they see God at work and realize the Gospel message is not just for Americans. Perspective comes from being in a different place, and visiting Haiti helps tweak the values we have to help others.
During her presentation, Gaby shared, “Through this trip God has not only opened up my eyes and my heart to people who have different circumstances, but He has also showed me that it’s not only what can I do for them…but it is what God can do through them. One of the things that you notice as soon as you get to New Missions is that God is changing lives through the next generation!”
Is God changing you today? Watch and see what He is doing in and through you. When you sponsor a child, your life is changed forever. ~Tim DeTellis
