Delivering Sneakers

In February, team members from Newport Assembly of God in Newport, PA, had the privilege of helping the students at our New Missions Decouze campus pick out their own pair of sneakers.
The students congregated in the church and excitedly came forward a few at a time to look over the selection and try on the pair he or she fancied. The teachers and team members assisted the little ones. It was interesting to see them deciding if they wanted a colorful pair, neutral, or high tops. Receiving a pair of sneakers is such a blessing to so many families who struggle to provide shoes and the other basic necessities of life.

As we drove up the winding road that day to this school, located on top of a mountain, I thought of all the paths these sneakers had already travelled to get there. I also thought about all the feet that would tramp the dusty trails to school and around the village protected from cuts, scrapes, infections, worms, and parasites—all because this precious cargo was being delivered.
