Please Don’t Forget Me, Don’t Forget Haiti…..
// Christine Batchelder
I met Pastor Millot Francois after the Haiti earthquake in 2010. Our group was waiting to be rescued and we were doing all we could to help those around us in need. The day after the earthquake, Pastor Millot Francois walked close to 10 miles to see if everyone at the mission was okay. He also asked us for prayer. We quickly gathered around Pastor Millot, laid hands on him, and cried out to God on his behalf. Pastor Millot’s church and school had been leveled to the ground after the earthquake. He shared with us that he had lost everything, but he had not lost his faith. We prayed and after we were done, Pastor Millot pulled me aside. He took my arm, looked me square in the eye and said, “My sister, my sister please don’t forget me. Don’t forget Haiti.” We both shed tears and hugged each other tight. That day I made a promise to Pastor Millot I would not forget him and the country he loved so much. Once we were rescued, I was passionate about sharing his story and couldn’t wait to go back to Haiti to see my new friend.
A year after the 2010 earthquake, I had the opportunity to travel back to Haiti and I couldn’t wait to see Pastor Millot. There was a part of me that wasn’t sure he would even remember me. But all of my fears dissipated as I saw him again. With a great big smile, he greeted me saying, “My sister! My sister! You kept your promise.” We spent time reconnecting, laughing and sharing stories. Towards the end of our visit, he asked if I would pray for him. It was such a powerful time.
Pastor Millot Francois’ church and school has now been rebuilt thanks to New Missions. Incredibly, 256 students now attend the Brache Millot school from pre-school through the sixth grade. It’s all because of your prayers and your generous support.
Sadly, I recently learned that Pastor Millot is very ill right now and needs a miracle. Would you join me in praying for Pastor Millot? I know and believe that God is still in the miracle working business and I’m sure Pastor Millot and his family would greatly appreciate our prayers. It breaks my heart. I wish I could see Pastor Millot again and give him a great big hug and tell him how much he’s meant to me. I wish I could say thank you to him. But if not now, I know without a shadow of a doubt, we will see each other in heaven because of Jesus. I’m so thankful for that.
I will never forget Pastor Millot Francois. His faith and fortitude had such an impact on my life and I’m sure has had an impact on lives of hundreds of others in Haiti.
Please don’t forget Pastor Millot in your prayers and please don’t forget the people of Haiti.
