Chapel Services at Colegio Nueva Vida
// George DeTellis, Jr.
I recently had the privilege to share a message at the Friday chapel services at Colegio Nueva Vida in Sosua, Dominican Republic.
Mario Hernandez, one of our high school teachers, translated my English into Spanish for the students. My message to the students was that they have a Father in heaven who loves them. He has prepared a great inheritance for them. But only they can say yes to their inheritance. We do have the right to refuse our inheritance. The choice is up to us.
There are 20 teenagers who are members of the Christian Student Leadership team at Colegio Nueva Vida. Led by Heather Williams Katz, these students are responsible for directing the Friday chapel services at school. There is a worship team that prepares all of the music, and a team of actors who perform a weekly skit. We have a diverse student population at Colegio Nueva Vida. To name a few, there are Chinese, Russian, German, Italian, Haitian, and Dominican children who attend our school. Most of them do not come from a Christian background.
Faith in a God who loves them is a foreign concept. Through the work of the school and the Christian faculty, we are sharing our faith and the Gospel with this new generation of leaders. We are thankful for the staff and missionaries who are changing the lives of children in the Dominican Republic. ~George DeTellis, Jr.
