This year, I will be in the States for our July 4th Independence Day celebration. I would like to visit the ocean and see my children. We enjoy our liberty and blessings in America.

Today is the day of salvation.

We need to always remember that we cannot live our lives absent of laws and responsibility. This is true of our country and our faith in God. Many soldiers have made sacrifices for our freedom here on earth. Jesus alone has saved us and has set us free from our sin nature—now and for eternity. We need to keep our eyes upon Him and upon His Word.

Jesus has come to proclaim liberty to the captive. In Isaiah 61:1 we read, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind.” The great plan of God is all about our deliverance and redemption. Living a life of sin is described as a bondage. Deliverance and salvation can happen today for anyone seeking liberty. The Bible tells us, “Today is the day of salvation.” It is not a process that takes a lot of time. There is an open gate today for anyone who needs deliverance from sin and salvation in Jesus Christ.

In John 8, Jesus spoke these words: “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) To the Jews who had believed Him He also stated, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:34-36

Freedom happens by believing in Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves. A great change occurs in our spiritual lives when we become saved. Salvation occurs by believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” The Gospel message is: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31) A great ransom was paid to redeem us. Take that step of faith towards God.

Liberty is for anyone. We need to come to Christ just as we are. Christ Jesus came to save us all—as we are lost without Him in our lives. It does not matter how old we are—we just need to come to Him. Our enemy would want to tell you that you are too bad to be saved. This is a lie from the enemy. We need to believe God for all things.

Liberty is forever. The kingdom of God is an eternal kingdom. This attracted me to God—even at a young age. Through Jesus, all of us can have eternal life. Eternal life with God is what it is all about. Life is not only about today—it is also about forever. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 ~Charlie DeTellis
