Undoubtedly, we have all had times when we said something that we wish we could have taken back the minute it came out of our mouth.

It is a subject that is not easy to talk about, but is so important in our Christian walk. Recently, we hosted a women’s mini retreat with the theme “Taming the Tongue.” Close to 30 women attended this special event and were immensely blessed and challenged. I want to thank Ronda Kline for all the work she did to prepare for this wonderful retreat!

Each of the ladies who attended the retreat were blessed and challenged by the topics discussed throughout the day. The ladies really enjoyed playing this game where they had to put the books of the Bible in order.

During the retreat, we discussed many verses in Proverbs and James about controlling our tongues.  One of the most thought-provoking questions we discussed was, “How frightened would you be if God could play a tape that would publicly reveal everything you ever said…even things you’ve said in private moments?” During the small group sessions, the women were able to discuss questions such as these to help learn how to use our words to edify and lift up rather than tear down and destroy. We covet your prayers as we continue to develop and grow our ministries for women, men, children, and teenagers. ~Heather Williams Katz
