Junior and Alourd began attending the Vieux-Court church in 2015 as unbelievers. After hearing the Gospel they decided to become followers of Jesus, and at a later date they were baptized.

Now, five years later, they recently stood before the congregation to dedicate their baby, Kervens, to the Lord. As Pastor Michel Souverain prayed for their son, the congregation outstretched their hands in agreement.

In our 30 churches, baby dedications are common yet meaningful. The believers recognize the importance of publicly declaring their infants belong to God, and that they will do their part to raise them to know the Lord. A Haitian pastor told me, “It is our culture to dedicate each newborn baby. We want God’s protection over the baby.” In a society where Voodoo is practiced by the majority, it is crucial for a child to grow up in the training and security of a Christian home and church family. We are so thankful that with each baby dedication a generation is being raised up to love and serve God.~Rachel DeTellis
