A Child's Dream

Junior Isaac desperately wanted a sponsor. It was his dream, as he always heard his classmates talk about their sponsors.
Junior wondered if anyone would love, encourage, and pray for him—as he saw his classmates’ experiences with their sponsors.
Mel Cochran met Junior in the summer of 2019 on her first mission trip to the DR.
Mel Cochran went on her first mission trip to the DR in July of last year with Christ the Savior Lutheran Church. It changed her life forever. On that trip, she met a young boy named Junior Isaac. He quickly caught her attention. Mel said, “He was a spitfire; very energetic!” She found herself constantly encouraging Junior—who seemed to crave love and positive attention. They took many pictures together and created fond memories. Since that time, Mel wondered about that sweet, energetic boy she met and wondered how he was doing.

Junior Isaac prayed for a year that Mel Cochran would become his sponsor. He is so excited God answered his prayer!
Then, she read our August newsletter. Junior Isaac was featured on the cover…still hoping someone would fulfill his dream of being sponsored. Mel got chills knowing God was at work. Immediately, she knew she had to call New Missions and sign up to be Junior’s sponsor. “I couldn’t wait! This is such an awesome experience. The difference is you get to meet your child. It’s not just a face; you build a relationship,” said Mel. Junior Isaac’s dream came true—and we are so excited to see what God has in store for both of them! ~Christine Batchelder
