Caring for New Moms
// Heather Williams Katz
At our health center in the Dominican Republic, we treat people from all age groups—many of whom are vulnerable patients such as the elderly, pregnant women, new moms, and children.
For the new and expectant mothers, we not only help them with their medical needs but also their emotional and spiritual needs.
Anyelina Maldonado first came to our health center for a pregnancy class we offered for women in the community. Her baby was born by C-section; she spent two weeks in the hospital because she had a very bad infection. After she was discharged, she returned to our health center twice a week to have her incisions cleaned. She continued to come for treatment for 10 months. Her daughter, Adanyely, is now 14 months old and both she and her mom are healthy. Anyelina is so thankful for the care she received at the health center, and says we are her family as she has none nearby. We thank the Lord that we are able to love and care for these precious women and children who come to our health center. ~Heather Williams Katz
