Feeding Families in the DR
// Heather Williams Katz
Many Dominicans and Haitians living in the DR rely on jobs where they receive daily pay but have no job benefits or security.
When the government instituted a lockdown due to the coronavirus, most of these people lost their jobs. One such man is Obi Luis who is the father of our four-year-old preschool student, Chali Luis. He and his wife have two children and are expecting another. He works clearing land for people and doing whatever odd jobs he can find. When the lockdown started, he was left without work and a way to provide for his family.
Thanks to our generous supporters, we have been able to give bags of food to the families of our students multiple times during the lockdown. When Luis came to pick up their bag of food, he thanked the Lord for His provision and for the mission. When we found out his wife was pregnant, we took the family more food, prenatal vitamins, and baby supplies. We are thankful to God and to the many people who donated money so that we can help families during this very difficult time. ~Heather Williams Katz
